Get More for Your Firearm — Without the Hassle of Selling It Yourself
Want to get more for your firearm than you might receive by selling it directly to a dealer?
Let Clear Sky Armory sell it for you.
Our Firearm Consignment Service combines the potential financial advantage of selling to a retail buyer with the convenience of having a licensed firearms dealer handle the process.
We help determine what your firearm is worth, securely store it, market it to prospective buyers in our store, on our website and on major online platforms with no extra cost to you. We handle customer inquiries, and complete the required California and federal firearm transfer when it sells.
You get the proceeds from the sale, less our agreed commission. Our standard rate is 20% of the sale price minus any cleaning and repair costs (if required).
And there are NO upfront costs. If your firearm requires repairs or major cleaning, the agreed cost comes out of proceeds only after the sale.

Why Consign Your Firearm?
When you sell a firearm directly to a dealer, the dealer is buying it for resale. That means the purchase price has to leave enough room for the dealer to cover its costs and eventually resell the firearm at a profit.
Consignment works differently.
Instead of buying the firearm from you, Clear Sky Armory markets and sells the firearm on your behalf.
That allows your firearm to be offered to the eventual buyer at a retail price. We receive an agreed commission when it sells, and the remaining proceeds go to you.
The advantage?
You can potentially get more for your firearm without having to sell it yourself.

We Handle the Work
Selling a firearm—particularly in California—involves more than simply finding someone willing to buy it.
With Clear Sky Armory, we take care of the process.
Professional Valuation
What’s your firearm really worth?
We evaluate its condition, features, rarity and market demand using resources such as the Blue Book of Gun Values, recent sale data, and current market information to help establish a realistic asking price.
You have final approval of the price.
Firearm Inspection
Our gunsmith checks the firearm to confirm its function and operation before it is offered for sale.
If professional cleaning is appropriate, we’ll discuss that with you.
Secure Storage
Your firearm remains at our secured and insured facility while it is on consignment, with 24/7 surveillance.
Professional Marketing
Your firearm can be displayed in our Chester store where customers can see it firsthand.
Depending on the firearm and the marketing option selected, we can also photograph and list it through online firearms marketplaces, exposing it to a much larger pool of prospective buyers.
We Deal With the Buyers
No classified ads.
No meeting strangers.
No answering endless questions from prospective buyers.
We handle customer inquiries, show the firearm, and work with potential buyers.
We Handle the Transfer
When a buyer is found, Clear Sky Armory handles the required firearm transaction process, including applicable DROS processing, background checks, California DOJ reporting, paperwork and waiting periods.
How Firearm Consignment Works
1. Bring Us Your Firearm
Bring your firearm unloaded and in a case to our Chester store along with your identification.
If you have the original box, paperwork, magazines, optics, case or other accessories, bring those too.
2. We Evaluate It
We’ll inspect the firearm and discuss its condition, market demand and estimated value.
We’ll recommend an asking price based on what we believe the firearm can realistically sell for.
3. You Approve the Price
The final decision is yours.
We’ll agree on the asking price, marketing approach, commission and consignment terms before you commit.
4. We Take It From There
Once the applicable California hold period has been satisfied, we’ll market the firearm according to our agreement.
Your firearm stays securely with us while we work to find a buyer.
5. We Sell It
When a buyer is found, we handle the sale and required transfer process.
6. You Get Paid
Once the sale and firearm transfer have been completed, we send you your proceeds less the agreed consignment commission and any other authorized charges.
What Does Consignment Cost?
Nothing Up Front
Clear Sky Armory’s compensation is based on a percentage of the firearm’s selling price.
We don’t collect our consignment commission until your firearm sells.
Our commission percentage varies based on the value of the firearm and whether you choose in-store-only or online + in-store marketing.

Is Consignment Right for You?
Consignment can be an especially good choice if:
- You want to maximize what you receive for your firearm.
- You’re not in a hurry to get paid.
- You have a desirable, collectible or higher-value firearm.
- You don’t want to deal with advertising and prospective buyers yourself.
- You’d rather have a licensed firearms dealer handle the transaction.
- You have a firearm that may benefit from exposure to buyers beyond the local area.
Need the money sooner?
We also purchase firearms directly.
We’ll evaluate your firearm and can discuss both options with you: what we would be willing to pay to purchase it directly and what we believe it could reasonably sell for on consignment.
You decide which approach makes the most sense for you.

What Firearms Do We Accept?
We consider a wide variety of legally owned firearms for consignment, including:
- Handguns
- Rifles
- Shotguns
- California-compliant semi-automatic centerfire rifles
- Curios & Relics
- Antique and reproduction antique firearms
- Certain California off-roster handguns when legally eligible for transfer
Acceptance is subject to the firearm’s condition, legality, value and marketability.
Not sure whether your firearm qualifies? Just ask us.
Have More Than One Firearm?
If you have an entire collection, inherited firearms, or firearms from an estate, our Firearm Collection Service may be a better fit.
We can help evaluate the collection and, when appropriate, come to you rather than requiring you to transport the firearms to our store.

Want all the details?
We’ve kept this page simple. Before consigning a firearm, you can review our complete service description covering eligibility, California hold requirements, consignment periods, withdrawal, pricing, fees, storage, payment and other terms.

One thing I particularly like about this structure is that the commission-rate table does not appear on the marketing page. I’d put the rates behind “View Current Consignment Rates & Complete Terms.” That keeps the visitor focused first on the value of the service rather than immediately comparing percentages.
