Sell it directly to us for a straightforward purchase, or consign it with us and let us find a retail buyer for you.
Neither option is always better. The right choice depends primarily on what’s more important to you: getting paid sooner or potentially getting more for your firearm.

Option 1: Sell Your Firearm Directly to Us

When Clear Sky Armory buys your firearm, we are the buyer.
We’ll evaluate the firearm and make you an offer based on its condition, current market value, demand, and what we believe we can ultimately sell it for.
If you accept our offer, there’s no need to wait for another customer to purchase the firearm.
Why would I choose this option?
Selling directly to us may make the most sense if:

What’s the tradeoff?
Because Clear Sky Armory is purchasing the firearm for resale, we need to buy it for less than its expected retail selling price.
You’re essentially trading some of the firearm’s potential selling price for speed, certainty and convenience.

Option 2: Consign Your Firearm
More Time Can Mean More Money.
With consignment, Clear Sky Armory doesn’t buy your firearm from you. We sell it for you.
We’ll evaluate the firearm with you and establish an agreed asking price. We then securely store and market the firearm, work with prospective buyers, and handle the required transfer when it sells.
When the transaction is complete, you receive the proceeds from the sale less our agreed consignment commission.
Why would I choose consignment?
Consignment may make the most sense if:
- Getting more for your firearm is more important than selling quickly
- You have a desirable or higher-value firearm
- You aren’t in a hurry to get paid
- You want access to retail buyers without selling the firearm yourself
- You don’t want to deal with advertising, buyers or the transfer process
What’s the tradeoff?
You have to wait for the firearm to sell.
There’s no guarantee how quickly a buyer will be found and California requires that we hold the firearm for 30 days before it can be sold. Properly pricing the firearm can make a significant difference in how long that takes.
Our consignment program also includes a minimum consignment period of 90 days and the 30 day California hold requirements.

Here’s a Simple Example
Suppose we believe a firearm can realistically sell for $1,000 at retail.
Sell It Directly to Clear Sky Armory
We would make you an offer that allows us to purchase the firearm, hold it as required, prepare it for sale, market it, and ultimately resell it at a profit.
For illustration, suppose our offer were:
You receive: $550
You don’t have to wait for us to find the eventual buyer.
Consign It With Clear Sky Armory
Instead, suppose we list the same firearm for $1,000 and it sells for that amount.
Using the 21% in-store consignment commission in our current fee schedule:
Selling Price: $1,000
Consignment Commission (21%): $210
You Receive: $790
In this example, waiting for a retail buyer would put $240 more in your pocket
Important: This example is only intended to illustrate how the two options work. An actual purchase offer, selling price, commission and time to sell will depend on the individual firearm and market conditions.

Choose Sell Directly to Us if you are thinking:
“I’d rather sell it now and be done.”
Choose Consignment if you are thinking:
“I’m willing to wait if it could put more money in my pocket.”
And if you’re not sure?
